An unusual phrase appears in the Book of Mormon: “he suffered an ignominious death” (Alma 1:15).
The word “ignominious” is not Biblical.
An initial 3-word match of “an ignominious death” is found in Adam Clarke’s Bible Commentary 1:41; this seemed the most obvious origin.
However, a deeper dive finds the 5-word string in the 1768 volume of The World Displayed; or, a curious collection of Voyages and Travels 3:76.
