A new alphabet (purported to be more phonetically correct) was devised under the direction of Brigham Young in the mid-19th century. A few publications were made, and some coins, but the Deseret Alphabet never caught on.

In this same vein, Brigham Young claimed to understand some of the pure language of Adam and Eve, known as the Adamic Language.
