Hannah Ells-Smith: 27th Wife of Joseph Smith

Age 29/30 – Married in mid-1843 (Joseph Smith, age 37)

Hannah died within a year of Joseph Smith’s murder. This could very easily account for the extreme lack of data about her life.

One thing is certain, she quickly became close company with the Mormon elite and defended the Church while her more public brother, Josiah, decided to follow Sidney Rigdon after Joseph’s death, as opposed to following the quorum of the twelve.
