Book of Abraham, Facsimile #2 A Significant Problem:

Lines 12 through 15 of this hypocephalus are damaged or missing entirely in the original artifact. Rather than leaving the gaps unaddressed or acknowledging the lack of content, Joseph Smith took it upon himself to invent and supply replacement text, filling in the missing portions with his own speculative ideas.

Compounding the issue, the interpretive symbols he inserted were not only unrelated to the original Egyptian content but were also placed upside down, demonstrating a fundamental misunderstanding of the artifact’s orientation and meaning. This creative reconstruction not only distorts the integrity of the original but also reveals a lack of Egyptological knowledge—anachronistic even by the standards of his time.
