The title page of The Book of Mormon opens with “THE BOOK OF MORMON. AN ACCOUNT WRITTEN BY …” and concludes with “… that ye may be found spotless at the judgment seat of Christ.”

In the 1840 edition, these paragraphs were attributed to “Moroni.”

This attribution was removed in the 1841 edition and has not appeared in any subsequent versions.
