LDS faithful immediately know you’re mentioning Joseph Smith when you speak the two words “The Prophet.” Yet, we’re hard-pressed to find a singular fulfilled prediction by this charlatan.

This unfulfilled prophecy of Joseph Smith is nearing 200 years old…

THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT WILL BE DESTROYED: 18 May 1843. “I prophecy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, that unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the State of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers, that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted… [I]f you ever turn your hand against me or the Latter Day Saints, you will feel the weight of the hand of the Almighty upon you; and you will live to see and know that I have testified the truth to you, for the conversation of this day will stick to you through life” (Joseph Smith, History of the Church 5:417 – Vogel Edition; also, Millennial Star 22:455. A similar prophecy was made 16 December 1843. See D. Michael Quinn, The Mormon Hierarchy, Salt Lake City, 1994; page 641, or J. Christopher Conkling, A Joseph Smith Chronology, Salt Lake City, 1979; page 189).

The United States rejected the Mormons’ petitions; their wrongs were not redressed; they were not protected from their enemies. The United States government was never overthrown and is still in existence.
