The (im)moral of the Story…

The Nephi/Laban story is both 19th century mind-set and tell-tale evidence of fraud. Additionally, the story was likely borrowed from the Book of Judith. I don’t know how anyone can read it and come up with a different moral lesson than this:

“If you want something, ask nicely. If you don’t get it, become obstinate – as often as it takes. When that doesn’t work, God will finally grant your efforts at thievery, but it will also require breaking a bigger commandment. Ultimately you’ll have your bravery canonized and become blessed with the ONE TRUE religion.”
